Artist Statement

My name is William Eugene Arney, but most people call me Will. From an early age I had decided to take my art from the two dimensional into the living realm of tattooing. Over the past three decades, I have been honing and perfecting my techniques  in a miriad of ways, in order to achieve a bond between the spiritual and physical plane. When tattooing, it is my way of transcending from paper to life in action;  fulfilling my intrinsic desire to help others channel their raw emotions, into a visual dialogue of their place in our combined human condition, while using techniques that will insure the art to stand the test of time. What good is it if your tattoo only looks good for the first few trips around the sun after it is completed? Tattooing is our oldest form of expression next to carving on cave walls. Since those caveman days of humans here on this planet. The Shawman/ Medicine Men of our tribes would give a tattoo in order to heir mark things like individual accomplishment, or a specific journeys end. Now days people both give and get tattoos for all sorts of reasons. I myself prefer to stay with its original purpose as often as possible. The tattoo process is an amazing thing in and of itself. From the array of personal and spiritual energy that is exchanged. To the wave of endorphins given off in succession one by one until we exceed the adrenaline. Lets not forget the personal sacrifice that occurs between the artist, and client as well. Getting tattooed may still have deeper meaning to some.
